	When we had our home check done, both myself and Jayne agreed that we needed a 'bombproof' bitch, with my three kids running riot, so we were suprised when Jayne rang a week later and told us about Zak. His owner was expecting another child, the kids were bored of him and since she had made her deicision she wanted him out, this was two weeks before christmas.

As you can imagine we were a bit dubious that this was the dog for us, as Jayne had been told he was a nervous dog, and since she had 16 dogs in the house at that time she coudlnt' take him. So since it was nearby we went. He barked at us all the time, woudn't come near us, and after 10 minutes she said "are you taking him or what?" Well we just couldn't leve him there, even if we didn't know what we were gonna do with him. His coat was matted, he stank, his back arch down so much his belly almost dragged onthe floor, there was no food or water available to him, and he was so nervous when there was a noise on the TV he ran and sat shaking in the garden. that was the decider. We took him home, and that was the beginnig of a beautiful friendship.

It took a while for him to learn to trust us, though saying that he settled with the kids straight away, but it hadn't been children who had mistreated him!

Now he's very much part of the family, and is a grumpy git sometimes but we love him.
